Student Exhibit at Hickory Museum of Art

On August 21st from 4:30-6:00 there will be a reception at the Hickory Museum of Art for a new exhibit by the students of the Catawba Valley Community College Photographic Technology Program. The show is titled “Ebony, Faces of African Americans in Catawba County.”
During the past spring semester, t
he students photographed African Americans around Catawba County. One neighborhood, Ridgeview, is most prominent in the exhibit because of its rich history.

Included in the exhibit is
the Community Ridge Daycare Center (a renovated wing of the old Ridgeview High School) to the wisdom of some of the seasoned community members such as Mrs. Josephine James (who is in her 90’s and still a vibrant and outgoing leader of the community) and Mr. Ed Fuller (who is still practicing the age-old “art” of shining shoes – an “art” that he has perfected since retiring as an educator.

Please come out, see the show, enjoy some light refreshments, and meet some of the students.

South Korea

I have finally edited through my South Korea images. It was a very special trip because we went to adopt our son Nathaniel. It is hard to describe in words the experience I had. I hope my photos do otherwise.
